KID/CODER

Unfortunately this project hasn't been funded on time!

Brief Description:

The KID/CODER Web Design series teaches students to code their own web pages – hands-on fun! Students don’t need prior programming experience. We build all web design skills from the ground up.

Problem:

Studies have shown that the U.S. is moving towards a gig economy, which means that traditional employment will be replaced with more freelance jobs, such as programming.  Learning to code will soon be a fundamental skill that the next generation will need for the future; however, these skills are not regularly being taught in school.

Solution:

Our solution is to teach kids how to code their own web pages with a kids teaching kids model. Unlike traditional programs, kidTeacher Fernandez will guide each class session through a series of fun lessons that will allow students to build their own website. It is time to for adults to move out the way and allow kids to help their peers!

Startup Cost:

KID/CODER has low start up cost. We have broken down are expenses below:

Budget:

5-day Rental of Computer Lab Facility w/ 30 computers: $250

Printing Materials (i.e. workbooks, lessons, etc.) : $145

Snacks: $25

*If you would like to make an in-kind donation (i.e. snacks, facility, printing) please leave a note in the comments.

Product:

With the help of the capital we raise, we aim to have a 2 workshop series that will teach up to 30 students how to code. The cost to register for the class is $40 per workshop series.
